Mark your calendars for October 7th, 2023, as Edward Abbiati, the charismatic ex-frontman of Lowlands (“One of Europe's hardest-working Rock bands – R2 Magazine UK), returns with his second solo album called "To The Light."
This masterful blend of rock, folk, and punk takes listeners on a rollercoaster ride, delivering both raucous energy and mesmerizing introspection in 10 brand new recordings.
Featuring an impressive roster of guest musicians, including Marco Diamantini (Cheap Wine), Stiv Cantarelli (ACC), and Francis Carnelli (The Mama Bluegrass Band), this rock and roll explosion is enriched by David Henry’s strings (Matthew Ryan, Yo La Tengo), Joey Huffman’s Organ (Soul Asylum, Drivin’ n’ Cryin), and a full horn section augmented by Richard Hunter’s enchanting harmonica virtuosity. Philly Legend Mike “Slo Mo” Brenner (Marah, Magnolia Electric Co., Wild Pink) returns on Lap Steel, adding his signature touch to the album.
Throughout the record, Edward Abbiati's evocative songwriting and emotive vocal delivery are beautifully complemented by the musical prowess of ex-Lowlands members Maurizio "Gnola" Glielmo on electric guitars, Enrico Fossati on bass, and Mattia Martini on drums. The addition of Winston Watson's incomparable drumming, known for his work with music legends Bob Dylan, Warren Zevon, and Giant Sand, elevates the album's sonic landscape.
Notably, "To The Light" features the brass brilliance of Lowlands Alumni Andres Villani & Max Paganin, as well as Will Allen Jr and Alvin Davis (Edwin Starr). Cameos by Lowlands members Stefano Speroni and Francesco Bonfiglio add extra layers of musical magic.
Produced by Edward Abbiati and Maurizio "Gnola" Glielmo, with mixing finesse by Chris Peet at Northhouse Studios in Wales, "To The Light" is a finely crafted masterpiece. Proudly released by the renowned Great Appaloosa Records label, home to esteemed artists like Fabrizio Poggi, Michael McDermott, Daniele Tenca, and the legendary Eric Anderson.
"To The Light" serves as the electric follow-up album to its acoustic predecessor, 2020's "Beat the Night."
